Joy Saved
My Life

Twenty-five years of corporate leadership, a breaking point, and a choice that rewired my entire life.

See What People Say

I spent 25 years in the legal marketing industry. I built teams, led operations, and drove results in one of the most high-pressure environments imaginable.

But there came a point where I didn't recognize myself anymore. I wasn't making healthy choices. I had an issue with alcohol. On paper, I was very successful, but inside, I was not well. I knew that if I kept pushing and making the same choices, I would never live a life that felt sustainable. Or authentic.

So I got serious. I quit drinking. I got curious about the mind and the body and how they work. I started practicing meditation, gratitude, and affirmations as daily tools. I was even using them with my team. And they were responding in astounding ways. Over time, I didn't just feel happier and calmer. I started to believe in myself.

And then came the vision. Clear and vivid. I was a DJ, in a room full of people, using music and movement and mindset to help them believe in themselves. I trusted it. I knew it was something I had to follow.

That vision became the Joy Activation Method. And it became the work of my life.

The Science

This is direction setting.

Even small positive emotions like gratitude, relief, and amusement create what psychologist Barbara Fredrickson calls the Broaden-and-Build effect. Your perceptual field widens. You think more clearly. You catch nuances you'd miss in a stress-locked state.

Your brain's Reticular Activating System (RAS) decides what makes it through to conscious awareness. It's trained by what you consistently focus on and repeat. When you tell your brain something matters, it starts looking for evidence of it.

Reframing is direction setting. You give your brain new input and it finds new results.

A University of Pennsylvania study found that participants who wrote and delivered a gratitude letter experienced a measurable increase in happiness that lasted for weeks. A Harvard study showed that hotel housekeepers who were told their work qualified as exercise lost weight and lowered their blood pressure, without changing their behavior. The belief shifted the biology.

Neurochemistry of Joy

Intentional movement naturally produces the neurochemicals that power performance:

  • Dopamine: motivation and focus
  • Serotonin: mood stability and resilience
  • Oxytocin: connection and trust
  • Endorphins: stress reduction and ease
